Project Overview

Project RuralDEV
Project RuralDEV SE (Rural Development through Education, Volunteering and Social Entrepreneurship) is an initiative of EduCARE India that aims to provide services for needy individuals living in rural areas to develop life skills, improve their livelihood and opportunity for a better standard of living by initiating and developing various services targeting their needs.

e6n Programme
Under this programme, EduCARE India, in partnership with and support of regional / national / international organisations, have planned and intend to develop a self-sustainable network of VIKAS Centres (Village Information, Knowledge And Social Services Centres), and VIKAS Cluster Coordination Centres e-connecting all/maximum villages of Punjab state through 2009-2014 to help it reach and serve the rural population and deliver them e6n services component.. The various services are grouped together under 06 Es focus areas of work, namely, - Education & Life Skills Development, Employment & Career Services, Empowerment, Healthcare, and Welfare, Environment & Conservation, Economic and Livelihood sustenance, E-communications, Documentation and Administration.

VIKAS Centres
A VIKAS Centre (Village Information, Knowledge And Social Services Centre) is a village based multi-e6n-services facility and delivery centre serving the rural population of a few surrounding villages.

VIKAS Cluster Centres
A VIKAS Cluster Centre is an established facility to serve a group of VIKAS Centres or a formation of larger number of villages covering a rural population and acts as a viable planning unit for integrated rural development and logistics coordination in the region. It emphasizes the importance of planned urban infrastructure in rural areas but with retaining the rural ambiance. It is linked to the nearest towns and the district headquarters in a way to receive the needed growth impulses and makes it-self integrated with the urban economy. It provides those e6n services that are not viable or sustainable at a VIKAS centre, but will not duplicate the services being provided at a VIKAS Centre.
